Research and Training for Undergraduates
in Biological and Mathematical Sciences

UBM Scholarships

The purpose of the Undergraduate Biological and Mathematical Sciences (UBM) Scholarships is to encourage students with strength in mathematics and biology to pursue interdisciplinary training. Scholarships are awarded annually to incoming freshman and transfer students based on academic achievements, test scores, and expressed interest in biology and mathematics. The UBM Scholarships are funded for five years (2006-2011) by a major grant from the National Science Foundation awarded to a group of Washington State University Biology and Mathematics faculty to promote interdisciplinary training of undergraduates in the biological and mathematical sciences.

All students applying for scholarships from Washington State University are considered for this award, so no special application for an UBM scholarship is required. Selected students are notified of their award in the middle of March in each year by the Scholarship Services and by the UBM program.
