Research and Training for Undergraduates
in Biological and Mathematical Sciences

Summer Research Experience

This is an exciting opportunity for undergraduates to interact and collaborate with other undergraduates and faculty interested in mathematics and biology. Selected students will receive a stipend of up to $3000 for the summer (10 weeks) to work on a project of their interest and choice. If the students continue to work on the project during the academic school year, they will receive a stipend of up to $1000 per semester.

Applications are currently being accepted for the Research Experience (starting) in Summer 2008. Selected applicants participate in a seminar in mathematical biology (Math/Biol 494) in Spring 2008. Faculty in the program describe mathematical biology research opportunities in the seminar. In addition, previous/current students present their work. At the end of the Spring semester, participants select a research project to work over the summer and the following academic year.

Applying to the program

We are no longer accepting applications for Research Opportunities in Summer 2008. From those who have applied, selections will be made by Tuesday, November 27, 2007.

Note: The UBM program is funded by NSF, and following their policies for such grants, we can only support undergraduate students who are US citizens or permanent residents.
