Summer Research Experience
This is an exciting opportunity for undergraduates to interact and collaborate with other undergraduates and faculty interested in mathematics and biology. Selected students will receive a stipend of up to $3500 for the summer (10 weeks) to work on a project of their interest and choice. Students could continue to work on the project during the academic school year, for which they will receive a stipend of up to $1000 per semester.
Applications for starting in the program in the Summer of a year are usually sought by Nov 15 of the previous year. Selected applicants participate in a seminar in mathematical biology (Math/Biol 494) in Spring semester of the year. Faculty in the program describe mathematical biology research opportunities in the seminar. In addition, previous and current students present their work. At the end of the Spring semester, participants select a research project to work over the summer (and possibly during the following academic year).
Applying to the program
Applications for Summer 2010 are now closed. Selected applicants will be informed by December 3, 2009.
Note: The UBM program is funded by NSF, and following their policies for such grants, we can only support undergraduate students who are US citizens or permanent residents.
